She was predeceased by: her parents, Ward Wallingford Boyd and Violet Davis Boyd; and her brother Charles Eugene Boyd. She is survived by: her sons, John Wellington Hoag IV (Reid) and Jason Wallingford Hoag; her grandchildren, Wells Hoag, Bishop Hoag, Ellie Hoag and Davis Hoag; her sister-in-law Martha D. Boyd; her nephew Charles Eugene Boyd; and her niece Suzanne Boyd Matheny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gateway House or Buncombe Street Children's Foundation.
