He is survived by: his children, William Sam Coates, III (Lucy) of Greenville, Joy Saylor (Charlie) of Roswell, GA and Lee Coates (Kimberly) of Greenville; his sisters, Ann Wooten of Belton and Jane Walker (Buck) of Greenville; his sister-in-law Joyce Coates of Ware Place; his grandchildren, Wiliam Sam Coates, IV, Patterson Coates, Jack Coates, Austin Saylor, Ben Saylor, Brittany Coates, Jordan Coates and Sara Kathryn Coates; and his great grandchildren, Barrett Coates, Rory Coates, Will Coates, Everett Saylor, Hampton Saylor, Cece Coates and Olivia Coates.
