He was predeceased by: his parents, Odell Bryson and Gracie Bryson; his former wife Elizabeth Annie Bryson; his siblings, Odessa, Sol James, John Robert, Dorsey Jean Lillian, Minnie Jo, Emma Lou, Jane Caroline, Herbert, David Bryson, Ray Ebremem, Jacqueline Wilson and Frances Linda; and his granddaughter Angela Bryson.

He is survived by: his wife Melissa Bryson; his siblings, Yvonne Mc Dowell and Ferrell Bryson; and his children, Sharon Craig, Richard Bryson Jr. (Sheena), Lena Carlton, Eunice Lewis (Demmick), Adam Bryson, Hattie Bryson, Dennis Bryson (Patricia), Israel Bryson (Beatrice) and Robert Hellams.
