He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. McDowell and Catherine Ward McDowell. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Barton McDowell; his sons, Michael David McDowell (Jackie) and Bryan Keith McDowell (Loretta); his grandsons, Michael Christopher McDowell, Jeremy Keith McDowell and Alex Brandon McDowell; and his siblings, Junie McDowell, Bob McDowell, Gary McDowell, Pam Covil and Brenda Johnson. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
