He was predeceased by: his parents, Nick Athanasiou and Frances Banias Athanasiou; and his grandchildren, John D. Pappas and Magy Dickerson. He is survived by: his spouse Magdeline "Maggie" P. Athas; his daughters, Frances Pappas (Demetrios) of Greenville, Elaine Athas of Greenville and Georgia Bracken (Rick) of Easley; his grandchildren, Jason Pappas (Spring), Pantelis Eckard and Stavroula Brown (Jacob); and his great grandchildren, Demetrios Pappas and Charlotte Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 406 N. Academy St., Greenville, SC 29601.
