He was predeceased by: his parents, Avery McCarter and Emily McCarter; his son Todd Norman McCarter; and his sister-in-law Patti Hood McCarter. He is survived by: his wife Gayle Gambrell McCarter; his children, Scott Parker McCarter of Greenville, SC and Ivey McCarter Hock (Rene) of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Rivers Andersen Hock of El Paso, TX and Remington Ivana Gayle Hock of Jupiter, FL.; his siblings, Jim McCarter of Greenville, SC and Nelda Kay (Mike) of Taylors, SC; and his brother-in-law James Gambrell (Karen) of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
