It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Avila (Greenville, South Carolina), born in Cave City, Arkansas, who passed away on August 5, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Porter and Bertha Marie Byrne; her husband James Paul Schlimgen; her son Paul Donald Schlimgen; and her siblings, Bertha Lou "Elyse" Doughty and Truman Porter "Buddy" Byrne.
She is survived by: her sons, James Truman Schlimgen (Denise) of Smithsburg, MD and Gabriel Mario Avila (Wendy) of Chattanooga, TN; her grandchildren, Whitney Schlimgen Flood, James Adam Schlimgen, Paul David Schlimgen and Lisa Marie Avila; her great grandchildren, Charlotte, Mason Flood, Wreagan and Ryder Schlimgen; and her nephews, James and Mark Doughty.
