He was predeceased by: his wife Sallie McNair Monroe. He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Monroe, Jr. (Sharon) of Phoenix, AZ and Robert Bruce Monroe (Regina) of Greer, SC; and his siblings, Gladys Edge of Greensboro, NC, Lucilla Moore of Greensboro, NC, Willa Godley of Greensboro, NC and Dallas Monroe, Sr. (Eleanor) of Marion, SC. He is also survived by three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Joseph & Sallie Monroe Scholarship Fund at North Carolina A&T State University to support future generations of students pursuing careers in computer science and engineering.
