She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Gaither Oliver Johnson; her husband James Andrew Fant; and her siblings, Ulysses Johnson, Lynell Johnson, Jhue Johnson, Mary Ann Johnson and Frances Johnson Rice.

She is survived by: her children, Randy Fant (Donna), Keith Fant (Lucy) and Barbara Ellis; her sister Elizabeth McDuffie (Willie); her grandchildren, Terry, Gwendolyn, Bianca, Keiron, Rashard, Tyesha, Tionna, Devonte and Erick; and her siblings-in-law, Marcell Fant (Mary), Carolyn Johnson and Nellie Johnson. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was also a member of the Angel Network of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a committee member of People for Justice, and the Colorado Springs chapter of the NAACP.
