He was predeceased by: his wife Jane Bowers Meyers; and his parents, Fred Meyers and Ruth Meyers. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Ann Meyers, Katherine Meyers Gormly (Matthew) and John Allan Meyers, Jr. (Jane Ann); his grandchildren, Jason, Mariah, Amy Burgess, Matthew and Charles Gormly; and his great grandchildren, Merrill, Matthew and Meyers Gormly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes - Northwest Chapel (6710 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611). Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
That same year, the President asked him to be president of the Foundation for the United States Constitution, which was chartered to raise private-sector funds for educational programs and projects that promote understanding of the Constitution.
