He is survived by: his wife Sandra Whitmire; his children, Satrina Boyd (Rico), Kayla Choquette, Brian Shumpert and Scott Shumpert (Debbie); his grandchildren, Desmond Shumpert (Shontica), Rico "Kay" Boyd, Saimaya, Tatyana, David Jr. and Charlotte Choquette; and his siblings, Johnnie Whitmire, George Whitmire, Roger Whitmire, Hattie Yeargin Robbins, Laura Anderson, Inez Wilson and Vickie Shaw. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
