It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joan Ripley of Greenville, South Carolina, born in Akron, Ohio, who passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlton Thomas and Helen Thomas; her aunts, Kathleen Gillespie, Betty Mills and Dorothy Jones; her uncle Walt Thomas; and her cousins, Susan Swoape and Carol Groncki.

She is survived by: her cousin Michael Swoape (Trifton Huff); her brother Tim Fitzpatrick (Geri); her aunt Lorena Griffey; her nephews, Tim Fitzpatrick (Wendy) and Tom Fitzpatrick; and her cousins, Tom Gillespie (Valerie), Deana Hetrick (Claude), David Griffey (Diana) and John Mills (Terry).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joanie's name to the Greenville South Carolina Humane Society.

“I had known Joanie for over 25 years. She and her husband, Michael lived across the street from us in Akron Ohio. We always had a really close neighborhood and shared many spur of moments Sunday cookouts and went out every year on New Year’s Eve together. She was a good friend. My husband and I were to all three of her homes in South Carolina. First to their apartment while their house was being built, then with them at their house and then finally with Joanie two separate trips to her condo.”
