It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Cynthia Gowan (Greenville, South Carolina), born in Abbeville, South Carolina, who passed away on April 26, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lyon McMurray, Sr. and Josephine Barnwell. She is survived by: her spouse Noel Dennis Gowan, Sr.; her sons, Noel Dennis Gowan, Jr. (Katie) and John McMurray Gowan (Cathy); her brother John McMurray (Virginia); her grandchildren, Noel Dennis "Trey" Gowan, III (Laura), Suzanne Brandon (Dylan), Matthew Barnwell Gowan, Sarah Caroline Gowan and Emily Grace Gowan; her great grandchild Mary Oliver Gowan; her close friend Deborah Lichtenfelt; her friends, Penny Pickett, Diane Seay, Gail Miller and Chip Lanford; and her caregivers, Aiken and Janice Thompson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
