He was predeceased by: his wife Sallie Capps Hoover; his parents, George Hoover and Anna Jay Rogers Hoover; and his siblings, Worley B. Hoover, Rosa Waldrop and Arthur Hoover.
He is survived by: his sons, Devaughn Hoover (Shirley) of Greenville and James D. Hoover (Pamela) of Mission, KS; and his grandchildren, Noel Jones (Jeremy) of Greer and Devin Hoover (Erin) of Taylors. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes - Downtown Chapel (639 N Main St, Greenville, SC 29601). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Woodlawn Memorial Park (1 Pine Knoll Dr, Greenville, SC 29609).
