He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joleen Elaine Thomas Whipple; his children, Sarah Marchbanks, Sam Whipple (Kati) and Shelley Whipple (Riley); his grandchildren, Alanna Marchbanks, James Marchbanks, Jr., Abbi Whipple and Ellary Bartz; his sister Cheryl Morrison (Jamie); and his pet Tucker.
