She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Stella Katherine Carter and John Calhoun; her children, Ruby Carter of Brooklyn, NY, Tangie Carter of Greenville, SC, John Carter of Brooklyn, NY, Bruce Carter (Debbie) of Greenville, SC and Tyrone Carter of Greenville, SC; and her siblings, Minnie Carter Major of Greenville, SC and Joshua Davis (Leslie) of Dallas, TX. She was also cherished by twenty-five grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
