He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jay and Louise Hurley Spoone; his brother Kenneth Hughes; his grandchildren, Michelle Taylor and Michael Scott Bingham; and his great grandchild Jera-Michael Bagwell.
He is survived by: his children, Freda Taylor of Gray Court, Maurice Spoone of Gray Court and Becky Craigo of Gray Court; his siblings, Naomi Spoone Nelson (Wayne) of Gray Court and John Milton Spoone of Gray Court; and his close friend Shirley Garrett of Laurens. He is also survived by six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Piedmont American Indian Association, Lower Cherokee Nation; or Warrior Creek Baptist Church; or Hospice of Laurens County.
