He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard M. Posey Sr. and Willie Jean Rudd; his son Averill M. Posey; and his siblings, Lawrence M. Posey, Charles Rudd and April Anthis (Lilya Mae).
He is survived by: his wife Teresa B. Posey; his children, Eugene Posey, James Riggins, Janie Strange, Sandra Posey and Christi Smith; his daughter-in-law Teresa D. Belt; his siblings, Michael Posey, Linda, Renea, Leona and Gloria; his grandchildren, Cody Staats, Joshua, Justin Strange, Kayla, Emily Hogan, Destiny, Anthony Smith, Edward, Bella Carabella, Alyssa, Hailiey and Tyler Riggins; his nieces, Deanna and Dianna Posey; his nephew John Bevins; his sister-in-law Shirleen Posey; and his son-in-law Donnie Hogan. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
