He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Allen and Hattie Belle Howell Byars; his son James Allen Byars Jr.; his grandson Matthew Byars; his great grandchild Landon Hartman; and his brother Barry Byars.
He is survived by: his wife Myrtie McKinney Byars; his children, Sarah Teague (Chase) of Belton, Brian Byars (Joy) of Summerville, Darrell Byars of Mauldin and Gabriel Byars; his brother Doug Byars of Willow Spring; and his grandchildren, Nikki, Austin and Cadance.
