He was predeceased by: his wife Gail Whisenant Simpson; his parents, Samuel Gordon Simpson, Sr. and Oudia Wells Simpson; and his daughter Karen Simpson Derrick. He is survived by: his children, Bill Simpson (Gwen), Patrick Simpson (Donna), Linda Meyers and Dawn Mills (Michael). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
