He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert "Shorty" Barnes and Annie Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Lois Barnes; his sons, Lynn Barnes (Teresa), Chris Barnes (Wanda) and Laron Barnes (Missy); his sisters, Emmie Clark and Shirley Seigler; and his grandchildren, Micheal Barnes, Brandi Phillips and Paige Barnes. He is also survived by seven great grandsons.
