He is survived by: his wife Helen Gillispie Swearingen; his children, Samuel E. Swearingen (Sylvia), Johnathan Swearingen (Selena), Christopher Swearingen (Bonnie) and Marsha Baughman (Ronnie); and his siblings, Richard Swearingen (Faith), Mae Hunt (Charles) and Rachel Baxley (Larry). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
