He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Frances Cosnahan Gay; his parents, Annie Mae Saxton and Edgar Thurmond Gay; his siblings, Robert William Gay and Lena Frances Gay; and his grandchildren, Dale Wigginton, Jr. and Glenn Cliett.
He is survived by: his children, Tracey Renee Owens (Daniel), Deborah Earline Wigginton (Dale), Patrick Carter Gay (Jerry) and James Rickey Gay; his sister Hazel Gallahar; and his grandchildren, Kayla Lauren Adams (William), Nathaniel Joseph Owens (Maci), Zachary Joseph Owens, Stacy Watts (Jody), Terri Dubak (Daniel), Chris Wigginton, Brandy Inskeep (Larry) and Kristen Nicole Gay. He is also survived by great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
