He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Shirley and Iva P. Shirley; his daughter Cathy Barnes; and his siblings, Larry, Jim, Tommy Shirley and Mary Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Shirley; his children, Brian Shirley, Tyronia Randall and Belinda Wooten; and his sisters, Margie Busbee, Dorothy Graham and Joanne Roberts. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
