He was predeceased by: his mother Willie Bell Hall Padgett; and his brothers, Donald Padgett and Herbert Padgett. He is survived by: his father George Hugh Padgett Sr.; his wife Judith E. Padgett; his children, George H. Padgett III (Michele) and Karen R. Lee; his siblings, Lois Wright (Ladson), Jean Padgett and Tommy Padgett (Lydia); and his grandchildren, Sebastian Lee, Lily Grace Padgett and Chole Snipes.
