He was predeceased by: his parents, Josiah H Bruorton, Sr. and Hilda D Bruorton; his sister Janice Camille Bruorton Cooper; his nephew Sollie E Cooper (Coop); and his daughter-in-law Stephanie Bruorton.

He is survived by: his wife Diane H. Bruorton; his children, Susan Bruorton McMicking (Keith) and Josiah H Bruorton, III (Joey); his granddaughters, Lauren McMicking of Goose Creek and Ella Bruorton of Goose Creek; his sister Susan B Dusenbury of Walnut Cove, NC; his nieces, Kim, Beth and Camille; and his pets, Teddy and Sophie.
