He is survived by: his parents, Darrell Wayne Shives, Jr. and Sharon Nunn Shives; his wife Audra Tschappat Shives; his daughter Raynah Fugle (Jacob Carter) of Hanahan, SC; and his grandparents, Linda Myers (Ronald) of Thomasville, NC and Darrell Shives, Sr. of High Point, NC. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 199 Water Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10038.
