He was predeceased by: his parents, Gaither Glennis West, Sr. and Bernadine Long West; and his brother Donald West. He is survived by: his wife Elfriede Elisabeth West (Hoelzchen); his sons, Gaither Glennis West (Glen) and Scott Wilhelm West (Dana Smith); his grandchildren, Dillion Glenn West (Natalie), Travis Allen West, Collin Davis West and Lydia Elisabeth West; his great grandchild Theodore Matthias West; his siblings, Bettina Haltiwanger and John G. West; and his son Glenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital and the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
