It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene Caldwell of Gilbert, South Carolina, who passed away on August 19, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Mack and Lillian A. Mack of Saluda County; and her son Alphonso "Putney" Caldwell. She is survived by: her aunt Ella; her children, Lourine Caldwell Chaplin of Batesburg-Leesville, Johnnie Lee Caldwell of Lexington, Melvin Caldwell of Columbia, James Stanley Caldwell (Ann) of Columbia, Valencia D. Caldwell of New York and Linda Gail Daniels (Kirk) of Bowie, Maryland; and her sister Celia Mae Davenport of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
