He was predeceased by: his great-grandparents, James Richard "Tootsie" Cusack, Sr., Ted and Mary Talbot; his great-aunt Melissa Wilson; and his great-uncle Ed Talbot.

He is survived by: his parents, Raeleigh Carolann Talbot and Micah Edward Talbot; his sisters, Kinsleigh Talbot of Georgetown and Tatum Talbot of Georgetown; his grandparents, Daphne Westbrooks (Chuck) of Georgetown, Mark and Vicki Talbot of Charlotte; his great-grandparents, Debbie Wydham of Georgetown and Mildred Purvis of Hartsville; his aunts and uncles, Jacob Talbot (Meghan) of Myrtle Beach, Jameson Westbrooks of Georgetown, Jenna Cusack of Georgetown and Hannah Beasley (Reggi) of Charlotte; his cousins, Blakley Westbrooks, Michael James Westbrooks, Aniston Beasley, Miles Pressley, Cashton Westbrooks and Tyson Talbot; his sister Arden Cusack of Georgetown; and also, Nancy and Al Cox of Georgetown. He is also survived by numerous great aunts, great uncles and other cousins.

In honor of Michael James' fight with Leukemia, memorials may be made to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, 18 Bee St. MSC 450 Charleston, SC 29425.
