He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Filmore Hester, Sr. and Rebecca Crowder Hester; and his brothers, Walter F. Hester Jr., Robert Hester, Dr. Joseph Hester and Jerry Hester.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Katherine Hester of DeBordieu, SC; his daughter Kathryn K. Hester; his son-in-law Larry J. Kuzniar of Georgetown, MA; his children, Holly H. Hester of Lake Wylie, SC, Susan S. Hester of DeBordieu, SC and James Scott Hester, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; his grandchildren, Todd Kosel, Lindsay Kosel, Holden Kuzniar and Grey Hester; and also, Becky Wyatt (Hester) of Winston-Salem, NC and Margaret Wigglesworth (Hester) of Greensboro, NC..
