He was predeceased by: his parents, David Ransom Newton and Annie Estelle Martin Newton; his brother Rev. Alton J. Newton, Sr. (Betty); and his brother-in-law John Ethridge. He is survived by: his wife Minnie Ann Ray Newton; his children, Theresa Skipper (Billy) and Jimmy Newton (Sharon); his grandchildren, Nic Skipper (Janelle), Bradley Ray (Deanna), Jamie Newton (Shelby) and Lance Skipper; his great grandchildren, Dylan (Hannah Cantley), Chloe, Mallory, Renn, Bexley, Perri, Adyson and Fierceson; and his siblings, David Ranson "Junior" Newton (Iris), Marlene Jacobs (Harry), Myrtie Ethridge and Louise Neal (Bill). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
