Alberta Gainey Obituary

She was predeceased by: her parents, Jacob Pyatt "Jake" Howard, Sr. and Annie Bell Johnson Howard; her siblings, Rev Oliver Howard, Jake Howard, Jr. (Bessie), Pete Howard, Durant Howard, Inez W. Thibeault, Vernon Howard (Penny) and Walter Howard; and her brothers-in-law, Gerald Gainey (Cindy), Wayne Scott, Alvin Gainey, John Ward and Robert Wilson.

She is survived by: her children, Oliver, Jake, Pete, Durant, Leona, Olin, Inez, Vernon, Sidney, Viola and Walter; her husband John M. Gainey; her son James Gainey, Sr. (Angela) of Surfside Beach; her grandchildren, Julie Raines (Ervin) of Surfside Beach, James "Bubba" Gainey Jr. of Surfside Beach, Brock Williams (Jenny) of Surfside Beach, Jamey Thomas (Jenn), TJ Williams (Sandi) of Brunswick, GA and Devon Thomas of Jacksonville; her siblings, Leona Scott, Olin J Howard (Elaine), Sidney Howard (Delores) and Viola Knight (Eddy); her siblings-in-law, Leatha Howard, Pat Howard and Clarence Thibeault; and her extended family, Loretta Lee (Ted), Carl Gainey (Clara), Debbie Gainey and Doug Gainey (Connie). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens (1640 Pennyroyal Rd, Georgetown, SC 29440).
