He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest M. Smalley and Nettie Curtis Smalley; his son Maurice Smalley; and his brother-in-law Bobby Gene Owens. He is survived by: his wife Annie Owens Smalley; and his siblings-in-law, Doug Owens (Marilyn) of Gaffney, Frances Harris of Gaffney and Virginia Owens of Spartanburg.
