He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Lawter Upchurch; his parents, Rob Upchurch and Beadie Scates Upchurch; his daughters, Sandy McKinney and Darla Kay Nava; and his grandchildren, Haley and Austin.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Upchurch (Kristy) of Gaffney, Tammy Patterson of Gaffney, Kelly Waters (Danny) of Cowpens and Theresa Duncan of Blacksburg; his sister Betty Ligon of Smyrna; his grandchildren, Caleb Upchurch, Kaitlan Upchurch, Ronna Knight, Bradley Patterson, Dustin Crocker (Blaire), Jeff Waters, Tony Waters (Erron) and Wesley McKinney; and his great grandchildren, Dakota, Walker, Lydia and Braylee.
