He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Neil Witherspoon and Angela Tate Humphries; and his stepfather Johnny Humphries. He is survived by: his wife Alyssa Dawkins Witherspoon; his children, Dylan Witherspoon of Boiling Springs, David Witherspoon, Jr. of Shelby, NC and Halie of Gaffney; and his siblings, Donnie Goode of Spencer, NC, Donna Binnix of Reidsville, NC and Michelle Witherspoon of Reidsville, NC.
