He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Lee Roy Patterson (L. R.) and Myrtle Scroggs Patterson; his son Gannon Patterson; and his siblings, Willard Patterson, Horace Patterson, Frank Patterson, Charles Patterson, Wanda Patterson and Rachel Patterson.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda White Patterson; his children, Tonine Patterson Stone (Dennis) of Simpsonville and Attorney Greg Patterson (Chris) of Gaffney; his brothers, Lee Patterson (Juanita) of Anderson and Reverend James Patterson (Marilyn) of Belton; his grandchildren, Kaleb Stone (Chastity), Kameron Stone, Kendall Stone Jump (Mark), Sloan Patterson, Garrett Patterson and Reaganne Patterson; and his great grandchildren, Ayson Josiah Stone and Gannon Thomas.
