He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Greene Spencer; his parents, Virgie Parker Spencer and R. C. "Lum" Spencer; his daughter Reneé Allen; and his siblings, Bertha S. Duckett, Christine Stanford, Ethel Moore, Otis Spencer, Floyd Spencer and William Spencer.
He is survived by: his pet Atlanta Braves; his daughter Tracy Kiser of Gaffney; his granddaughter Kim Messer (Doug) of Blacksburg; his great grandchildren, Amber Haney (Dee), Sierrah Messer (Ricky Henderson) and Dakotah Messer; his great great grandchildren, Kayleigh Holcomb, Damian Henderson, Mason Holcomb, Alana Holcomb, Anakin Henderson and Abygale Henderson; and his nephew Mike Parker (Frances).
