With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ernest Lavender Sr. of Gaffney, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 29, 2024 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Bessie Ree Lemmons Lavender; his parents, Willie Lavender and Carmie Farley Lavender; and his sisters, Elizabeth Darwin and Frances Hammett.
He is survived by: his sons, Thomas Lavender of Gaffney, David Lavender (Linda) of Gaffney and Ernest Lavender Jr. of Gaffney; his sisters, Juanita Ramsey of Chesnee, Louise Lancaster of Chesnee, Eula Lookadoo and Laverne Wilson (Jim); and his grandchildren, Michael Lavender (Jennifer), Tabitha Lavender of Blacksburg, Curstie Allison (James) of Gaffney and Shannon Moore (Jonathan) of Kings Mountain. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Blakely Funeral Home (1047 Chesnee Hwy, Gaffney, SC 29341). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
