He was predeceased by: his wife Judith Ann Stephens Owens; his parents, Lawson Elzie Owens and Molly Driskill Walker; his stepfather Andrew Walker; his sons, Bobby "Gene" Owens, Jr. and Ricky "Rick" Lynn Allen; and his brothers, Howard Owens, Elzie Leon "Sonny" Owens and Willis Owens.
He is survived by: his children, Stacy Leon Owens (Tiffany) of Greer, Krystal Sanders (Greg) of Gaffney and Pam Peeler (Tommy) of Gaffney; his nephew James Owens (Misty) of Gaffney; and his grandchildren, Justun Sanders, Kaycee Davenport (Danny), Landon Owens, Pehton Bright, Christina Ramsey (Ray), Sadie Owens, Erin Peeler, Summer Moore, Shane Allen, Lynsi Isbell, Allen Cook, Marla Caufield and Buddy Messer.
