He was predeceased by: his spouse Gennell Bryant Burgess; his parents, Columbus A. Burgess, Sr. and Emora Hammett Burgess; and his siblings, C. A. Burgess, Jr., Mansel T. Burgess, Era Williams, Connie Reynolds and Annette Jolley.
He is survived by: his son Larry Burgess of Cowpens; his sister Eunice Burgess Buzhardt (Thomas) of Newberry; and his sister-in-law Maxine Burgess of Greer.
