He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cecil Sims, Sr. and Mary Helen Allison Sims; and his siblings, Larry Sims and Celia Rush. He is survived by: his wife Ann Huckaby Sims; his children, Chris, Marty Richey, Ellen, Glenn Hawkins, Melissa and Preston Layton; his sister Ann Eppes (Richard); his grandchildren, Hannah Rodgers (Aubrey), Jacob Hawkins, Kaitlin Guthrie (Hunter), Hunter Richey, Abby Hawkins, Matt Hawkins, Kalli Layton and Eli Layton; and his great grandchild Palmer.
