He is survived by: his children, Tim Helms, Hal Helms (Robin), Donna Thompson (Jimmy) and Annette Helms; his siblings, Johnny Helms and Zell Emory; and his grandchildren, Brandy Thompson, Elliot Helms, Addison Helms, Riley Helms and Emily Helms.
