He was predeceased by: his spouse Nevie Vaughn Woods; his parents, John Claude Woods and Ethel Smith Woods; his daughter Janice Osborne; his son-in-law Ricky Ballew; and his siblings, Wayne Woods, George Woods, Helen Peden and Gertrude Milton.
He is survived by: his daughter Gail Ballew; his brother Lewis Woods (Louise); his grandchildren, Brandon Osborne (Malarie), Shannon Ballew (Karen) and Angela Staton; and his great grandchildren, Justin Ballew, Miranda Ballew, Dalton Ballew, Taylor Staton (Faith) and Devon Staton. He is also survived by five great-great-grandchildren.
