She was predeceased by: her parents, John Burdette Denton and Coreen Estell Varnadore Denton; her husband Jordan Brakefield; and her sister Mary Lee Plyler. She is survived by: her son Glenn Brakefield; her grandson Bryce Jordan Brakefield (Brooke); and her sister Leola Reiser (George). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Fort Lawn Baptist Church (5742 Church St, Fort Lawn, SC 29714).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fort Lawn Community Center, 4 K Program, 5554 Main Street, Fort Lawn, SC 29714.
