He is survived by: his wife Roberta Olmstead; his son James Whelan; his daughter-in-law Melody Chen; his daughter Jasmine Whelan; and his sister Trish Soolikhan.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 2nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Francis Marion Freshwater Ecology Complex (3742 N Williston Rd, Florence, SC 29506).
