She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Leon Lanier and Nell Johnson Lanier of Newport News, Virginia.; her brother Dr. Tommy Lanier of Newport News; and her brother-in-law Randy Player (Paulette) of Camden. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Carroll Player; her children, Nell Player DeVore (Brett) of Alpharetta, Georgia and Dr. Keith Player (Devin) of Florence; her brother Bobby Lanier (Vicki) of Newport News, Virginia; her grandchildren, Ruth, Helen Player of Florence, Hayden and Parker DeVore of Alpharetta, Georgia; and her sister-in-law Constance Player Nelson (Gary) of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by many cousins and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or the McLeod Health Foundation's Children's Hospital Fund.
