He is survived by: his spouse Mildred Jones "Millie" Powell; his parent Kitty Viola Degahart Powell; his former wife Evelyn; his daughters, Maxie Powell and Wendy P.; his husband Khaled Abdelwahab of Greenwood; his sons, John Powell, II of Graniteville and Jasper (Rhonda Powell) of Greenwood; his nieces, Jacqueline Powell (Phillip Mann) of Chapmanville, W. VA. and Jessie Powell of Greenwood; his stepchildren, Vicki (Robert Brannon) of Timmonsville and Richard (JoAnne Peake) of Lynchburg, SC; his siblings, George Powell of Irmo, Clara Brink of Bishopville, Celestine Mims of Sumter, Hilda (Don Krieger) of Sumter, Dorothy Hickson of Bishopville and Beatrice (Bill Lamkin) of Jonesboro, AR; his grandchildren, Amira Abdelwahab, Aliya Abdelwahab, Jay Powell and Katie Powell; his nieces and nephews, Johnny Powell, III, Maxie Caroline Powell, Tonya Joyce (Shane Cooper) and Roy Tyler Mann; his stepgrandchildren, Lee (Holly Kaiser), Trey Peake and Clayton Peake; and his great grandchildren, Lilly Hembree, Victoria Grace Cooper, Corey Cooper, Molly Evelyn Gore, Pheobe Gore, Daniel Gore, Autumn Kaiser, Jackson Kaiser and Richie Kaiser.
