He was predeceased by: his daughter Jackie Day; and his parents, Luna Moon and Jack Townsend, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Florence; his children, Stan Townsend (Dianne), Kathy Alwahab (Al) and Suzanne Lee (David); his son-in-law Radford Day; and his sister Nancy Carpenter (Charlie). He is also survived by two sisters and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Townsend Mission Fund at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 501 Rampey Street, Easley, SC 29640.
