He was predeceased by: his parents, Helmut Bräutigam and Elfreide Bräutigam. He is survived by: his wife Rosi; his daughter Anja Bräutigam Barefoot (Walt); and his grandchildren, Joshua Hilton Barefoot and Lydia Rosmarie Barefoot.
